APMA QLD Workshop - Embracing Curves
Date: Saturday 24 July 2010

Workshop DeX-SCRIPTion:

The arc and spine corrector are great pieces of small apparatus that can assist modify and increase the challenge of traditional Pilates work. This workshop is a practical one meant to challenge teachers of all levels with ways of using the curves of the arc on the reformer, the mat and even with the wunda chair. The workshop encompasses the shape of the curve in pilates and equipment to add a new dimension to many traditional exercises. We will use the barrels in incorporation with the Trap Table, the Wunda chair and even the Reformers. The workshop will be broken into several sections:
- A warm up on the mat using the arc
- An interactive session with the arc the reformer and other Pilates large apparatus
- Special populations

APMA NSW Workshop - Traditional Pilates Mat

Workshop DeX-SCRIPTion:

There are a huge range of exercises now taught in Australia under the broad umbrella of ¡®Pilates¡¯. But it all started with the Traditional or ¡°classical¡± Pilates Mat. The Traditional Pilates exercises are rigorous - but presented the right way, the exercises offer an exciting challenge to more capable clients. These exercises can the give a lift to a client¡¯s workout and allow instructors to take a client¡¯s strength and co-ordination to a new level. This workshop will be hands on exploration of the traditional mat - not just the exercises, but the dynamics, timing and flow of the Traditional Mat. It will look at ways teaching the mat to clients safely and effectively. Participants are asked to bring their own mat to the workshop.
